Over the summer the SAC staff installed and calibrated a new JBL monitoring system in the Control Room for multiple playback scenarios including stereo, 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound, and Dolby Atmos; a twelve speaker, 360˚ surround sound format. Our Atmos system employs four ceiling speakers as well as the full compliment of horizontal speakers creating a totally immersive listening experience. This system will allow students to accurately monitor surround sound projects for broadcast and streaming outlets, commercial theaters, DVD, Blu-ray, and music and game creators. Since this installation represents one of the early adoptions of the Atmos system in a college facility, our students will be at the forefront of Atmos technology training and job placement.
